Taking Tough Smudge International! 🇩🇪🦔💛
After spending 2026 discovering the joys of mud, obstacles and questionable endurance decisions across the UK, it’s time to take Tough Smudge a little further afield!
In August 2027, I’m planning to head to Germany for Tough Mudder Berlin–Brandenburg, adding an international adventure to what is already shaping up to be a rather busy year.
Because apparently travelling the length and breadth of Britain to get muddy simply isn’t enough anymore! 😅
A Different Kind of Tough Mudder
Berlin–Brandenburg promises a slightly different challenge from many of the UK events I’ve experienced.
Held at Spargelhof Klaistow, just outside Berlin, the course features woodland trails, sandy tracks, relatively flat terrain and the familiar Tough Mudder obstacles, alongside some variations on the classics.
After surviving the hills, mud and wonderfully unpredictable British weather, it’ll be interesting to experience Tough Mudder in a completely different setting.
Although I’m fairly certain the obstacles won’t become any easier just because they’re in Germany!
The Plan
I’m aiming to complete both the 15K and 5K on Saturday, giving me another full day of obstacles, teamwork and adventure.
The entries and start waves are still to be confirmed, as I’m working through the arrangements for booking the German event.
There’s no elaborate endurance challenge planned here. The aim is to experience a Tough Mudder outside the UK, enjoy a new course and perhaps meet a few fellow Mudders from across Europe.
And, naturally, collect another couple of rather lovely finishers’ shinies! 🎖️
Another Chapter in the Journey
What began with a single Tough Mudder in Yorkshire has developed into something I could never have imagined.
By 2027, the journey will have taken me through multiple Infinity events, World’s Toughest Mudder, Spartan races and a growing collection of obstacle course adventures.
Berlin–Brandenburg represents another exciting step: taking Tough Smudge beyond the UK and experiencing the international Tough Mudder community.
Different country, different course, same determination to get stuck in, overcome whatever is in front of me and make every adventure count.
