Autumn Wolf Run
11–12 September 2027
The Offchurch Bury, Offchurch, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire
10k / 5k Obstacle Course Race

Autumn means changing leaves, cooler weather and, apparently, another perfectly good opportunity to cover myself in mud.
The Autumn Wolf takes place at The Offchurch Bury in Warwickshire, the original home of the Wolf Run. The course combines woodland, open countryside, water and natural terrain with a collection of purpose-built obstacles to create a very different style of obstacle course race.
After taking on Summer Wolf earlier in the year, this will be my second visit to the Wolf Pack and another chance to experience OCR away from the familiar orange headbands and obstacles of Tough Mudder.
The Challenge
The main Wolf Run course is approximately 10km and includes around 30 obstacles, while the shorter 5km route contains approximately 15.
As with Summer Wolf, the challenge isn’t simply about getting from one constructed obstacle to the next. The terrain itself forms a major part of the event, with woodland, water, mud and whatever September weather decides to contribute all becoming part of the course.
The emphasis is also on getting around together rather than racing for a finishing position, something which fits rather nicely with the way I’ve come to enjoy obstacle course racing.
Help when somebody needs it.
Accept help when you need it.
And keep moving forwards.
The Home of the Wolf Run
Offchurch Bury is where the Wolf Run began, and its signature obstacle is the River Swim.
Unlike a quick splash through a water obstacle, this is a genuine swim and one of the defining features of the Warwickshire course. It is joined by a mixture of hand-built challenges and natural obstacles, along with familiar Wolf Run favourites including the water slide and the wonderfully named Mud Sucker.
By September I should have accumulated a reasonable amount of experience in mud, water and questionable decision-making, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the original Wolf Run course adds to the collection. 🦔
Why Autumn Wolf?
One of the things I want from 2027 is variety.
Tough Mudder remains the main journey and World’s Toughest Mudder is the major target, but trying other events gives me a chance to encounter different obstacles, terrain and approaches to OCR.
Wolf Run seems particularly good at using the landscape rather than simply building an obstacle course on top of it.
And after Summer Wolf in June, returning for Autumn Wolf gives me an opportunity to see how the same event changes with the seasons.
It also lands immediately before another busy part of the Tough Smudge calendar, with Tough Mudder London South following the next weekend.
Apparently recovery weekends are becoming increasingly optional. 😅
But by this point in the year, there is a simpler explanation for why I’m doing it.
I enjoy this.
The mud, the obstacles, the ridiculous challenges, the people you meet along the way and that feeling when you cross another finish line filthy, tired and already wondering what is next.
So it’s back to Warwickshire, back into the water and back into the mud.
Keep getting muddy. 🦔💛
