The Story Behind the Result

Lumberjacked
Climbing
Being short I don’t like this one. Every time I have approached this one, I have used one of the supports as a bit of a step to jump off and throw myself over. On this run took it a little aggressive and ended on my bottom. Bit embarrassing, but was quickly over
Hero Walls
Walls
Messed these up and caused myself an injury! First time, one of the volunteers gave me a leg up, so got over, no issue. This time, thought I would be clever, landed my foot in the middle of wall, got hands over the top, didn’t have the strength to pull myself over. and failed. Fellow mudder gave me a foot up, but the damage to my right leg was done
Cage Crawl
Water
Well this was refreshing for such a hot day. Tub of water, bit of fencing, pull yourself alone floating on your back. Not hard, not difficult, meh!
Devil’s Beard
Climbing
This was easier in Yorkshire! In Yorkshire this obstacle was on a steepish hill, so my body was more naturally angled for crawling under the net. Because Badminton is quite flat, this was more a crawl.
Twinkle Toes
Balance
I don’t have any balance. Didn’t give this a serious try due to the leg…was trying to assess what I had done, so jumping off awkwardly didn’t appeal, so I gave it a half hearted attempt, but quickly moved on.
Human Gecko
Hanging / grip
Think I cheated here, but it was an obstacle to get round, so if you can, is it cheating? So “S” shaped wall with hand and foot blocks. You’re suppose to grab the blocks with and step on the blocks, but reach up and you can reach the top of the wall. So good idea, but due to bad design, really easy.
Kiss of Mud
Crawling · Mud
There was a distinct lack of mud, but this wasn’t unexpected given the weather this year. I don’t know if this obstacle is better when there is mud as there was a lot of small stones which made this crawl more uncomfortable than anything else. The barbed wire also seem particularly high meaning that half way across I figures I could pass under on without being on my knees…sort of a crab, feet and hands.
Sack Up
Carry
Pick a bag of stones up. Lift it onto your shoulders and walk round a small wood. Some people jogged round past me with the bag, but as I did at Yorkshire, I just had a little restful walk.
Just the Tip
Hanging / grip
So I like this obstacle, there is a sense of achievement getting across. But this time, I failed. At Yorkshire I at the end of the run I notice by hands were purple, so was testing some gloves. So here when I needed grip, but gloves could grip, so I ended up slipping off. Gloves went after this obstacle!
Funky Monkey
Hanging / grip · Water
Love this. Had massive doubts about it, but took it slowly and conquered.
Trench Warfare
Crawling
Big stones are the issue with this obstacle. Be better if they got rid of the stones while making it, and drench it with water.
Dong Dangler
Climbing · Hanging / grip
Another one I doubted I would be able to do. But what a great obstacle. All solo effort, challenging, strength, technique, brilliant.
Pole Dancer
Strength
Got about half way across, so better than Yorkshire, but failed. I know how you’re TM want this doing, but the next time I come across it, I’m going to try a different technique.
Mud Mile
Mud
So not mud, little water. Much easier than Yorkshire, but this weekend wasn’t a proper experience. Next time should be better
Stairway to Heaven
Climbing
Nice and easy simple cargo net climb….and is that a water station on the other side?
Electric Eel
Electrical
So the electric shocks feel like being hit be a bar. Not enjoyable, but water was refreshing…the jury is out.
Mudderhorn
Climbing
A very nice volunteer gave me a foot up. Love the climb up and view. Feels a little dangerous, but not difficuly.
Pyramid Scheme
Climbing
Team work. The most difficult thing about this obstacle is finding someone willing to give you a leg up.
Hangin’ Tough
Hanging / grip
Well I was tired by this point. Skipped it in Yorkshire due to losing my wrist bands in Artic Enema, gave it a try here….but I was spent by this point.
Electroshock Therapy
Electrical
Not sure the point of this obstacle. It’s definitely meh!
