TrainingWalking + Running + Cycling

The first time in over a year, I decided that I should do the local Parkrun. From the weekend, my first Tough Mudder, one of the biggest weakness was my running. I had the stamina, it felt simply that my muscles aren’t right for running….so I have set myself the smaller challenge of getting to the Parkrun when not doing an event.

So I got to the Park early, walked the course to familiarise myself with the gradient and turns, and was ready. Through the thong of people. I spotted my target pacemaker…the guy with his dog 🙄 and a fetching baby blue vest with a number 27. No idea what my pace would be, but thought my previous best was 30 minutes so wanted to do better.

Well, off we went, Swedish House Mafia in my headphones (I find EDM excellent for running) and I followed the light blue No 27 vest and dog for the 2 laps, only accelerating when I came round the last corner and saw the finish line.

Could I have gone faster? YES….will I next Saturday?….YES. I just hope there is a Pacemaker at 26….think 25 might be pushing it a bit….after all the World’s Toughest Mudder isn’t about speed….it’s 24 hours of going round a 5 mile (I think it’s 5) as many times as possible.
